What Happens at an Emergency Exam
An emergency exam begins with a focused evaluation of your symptoms. The team will ask about when the pain started, what makes it better or worse, and whether there was any injury or trauma involved. That conversation helps direct the exam before anything else.
The clinical examination follows: a visual inspection of the tooth and surrounding tissue, sensitivity testing, and X-rays as needed to see what is happening beneath the surface. For situations where standard X-rays do not provide enough detail, CBCT imaging is available in-house.
When a diagnosis is reached, the aim is same-visit treatment whenever possible. If the situation requires a more involved procedure that cannot be completed the same day, you leave with a clear plan: what needs to happen, in what order, and why.
The goal of the emergency exam is not just to manage discomfort in the moment. It is to give you an accurate picture of what is happening so you can make informed decisions about next steps.
